Cymatics

Wed Sep 9, 2009, 3:18 PM
Overall: Dealing with shit, art backed up, school and stuff. That's about all that's happened. Real internet will hopefully be coming soon, we ordered it from AT&T but the router was apparently never delivered and we've had to wait like 3 weeks to get it. >:I

On another note, cymatics is pretty awesome. We got to watch a video on it in my sound for animation class. Basically, its the movement of particles based on the presence of sound waves.
Substances will move in certain patterns and certain directions according to the placement of the sound waves. Different substances will react different ways, sand will make patterns, liquid will flow certain ways, but my favorite is probably glycerin, which you'll have to see the videos for :D It looks much like an amorphous skeletal maggot seizing.

In any case, I've started developing a world that relies very heavily on cymatics (not that it doesn't affect ours, but this one I'm working on is just make more use of it. I imagine its a very loud place.) and will make a series of animations of it later.

I went to my neurologist a few weeks ago and got a spinal tap to make a final test proving my lack of syphilis and to test for the autoimmune disorders they expected me to have. The tests all came back negative, so I don't have syphilis (though I will be going through a 3 week long treatment so that I can get heath insurance >:I ) but they also didn't find what the autoimmune antibody I had was from. In the end, we found my optic neuritis was idiopathic, there's no reason we could find that I got it, and whatever autoimmune thing I have is a mystery.

I have some Hawaiian mango soda though. It's pretty awesome :D

Last episode: The positive tests for syphilis I had gotten were confirmed wrong by a syphilis specialist. It was instead an autoimmune antibody that happens to look very much like syphilis. Despite the word of the specialist the health department refused to back off - until we chewed them out a bit.

So, today I went back to my Neurologist and got another MRI and fun vision tests - which apparently proved my vision is back to 20/20 - I also got a lumbar puncture today where four vials of spinal fluid were drawn to test for syphilis/autoimmune stuff. I somewhat recently went off of Adderal for my ADHD, which has seemed to foster all sorts of goodies I'll inevitably explain later after I get to work on a series of arts I'm making of it.

Syphilis

Fri Apr 3, 2009, 1:19 PM
So, early on in my eyeball excursion I was tested for syphilis (as optic neuritis can be a symptom of the third stage of syphilis) and the test came back with a borderline positive: the general test was negative and the test specifically for syphilis was positive. Of course, none of the doctors I've been seeing believed it could be true and I certainly knew it wasn't so I planned to get tested again that weekend. The health department, however, was adamant that I talk to an annoyingly persistent man about the disease and he refused to wait until I after got retested (that day). I then proceeded to waste my time answering the questions of the annoyingly persistent man that insisted on subtly talking down to me as if I'd hump anything that looked vaguely like a dick, that all went something like "Have you ever had or done anyone with this glaringly obvious and grotesque rash? How about this one? Or maybe this one?".

The results I got for the blood test that day came with the same answer as before, so my neurologist retested it in another lab which came up with another borderline positive. He then sent it to a doctor that specialized in syphilis who concluded that it was instead an autoantibody of a sort that happens to look like syphilis. Which instead means I likely have another autoimmune disorder instead :B
